A fantastic opportunity to visit 2 unique locations on the same cruise, both with outstanding seabird colonies and fascinating archaeological remains.
Visit both St Kilda (the UK’s only dual UNESCO World Heritage site and a real bucket list destination) and the Shiant Isles (where you will experience amazing numbers of seabirds) alongside other beautiful Hebridean Islands.
Destination:
Guests join motor vessel Hjalmar Bjorge around 1530 on Monday 1st May in Oban. Our departure shortly thereafter will see us on anchor for our first evening meal aboard.
The itinerary is dependent on the weather – balancing shelter with reaching our main destinations of St Kilda and the Shiants.
At St Kilda walk in the footsteps of the old villagers who left long ago now as you check out the stone houses and other buildings where they stored supplies, livestock and even the feathers they used to collect from the seabirds nesting on the cliffs.
The Shiant Isles, this lovely little archipelago of 3 islands is home to the 2nd largest UK puffin colony after St Kilda and the largest razorbill colony, as well as guillemots (watch out for the bridled form with their eye stripe!), shags, kittiwakes and great skuas. Check out the bothy!
The Uists, step ashore on glorious beaches and watch out for otters playing along the rocky shorelines.
Small Isles, four islands each with a different character. There is a puffin colony on Canna and the Sgurr of Eigg is a famous local landmark.
On the final day we will return to Oban having breakfast there before your departure on Wednesday 10th May.

Puffins – always a delight for crew and guests and lots of them at St Kilda, the Shiant Isles and Canna.
