St Kilda and the Shiants – 9 night cruise
|Availability||Sat 18th May to Mon 27th May||
A fantastic opportunity to visit 2 unique locations on the same cruise, both with outstanding seabird colonies and fascinating archeaological remains.
Destination: Guests join motor vessel Hjalmar Bjorge around 1600 on Saturday 18 May in Oban. Our departure shortly thereafter will see us on anchor for our first evening meal aboard.
The itinerary is dependent on weather – balancing shelter with reaching our preferred destinations – but may include, for example, some of the following destinations en-route to our main destinations: Mull, the Small Isles (Rum, Canna, Eigg and Muck), Skye, Coll and Tiree. We will aim to land on The Shiants and explore these wonderful islands with their large seabird colonies and interesting archaeological remains.
Leaving the Shiants, we will head through the Sound of Harris, possibly stopping at some of the delightful islands there. Then weather permitting we will head to St Kilda to explore this wonderful location. We hope to include a visit ashore at Hirta (with packed lunch) to explore the island with its amazing views, history in Village Bay and wonderful birdlife, plus a comprehensive tour of the amazing stacs to view the bird colonies up close.
On the final day we will return to Oban having breakfast there before your departure on Monday 27 May.
Highlights: Astounding seabird colonies in spectacular settings, historical remains, beautiful walks, cetacean encounters
