We’re delighted to announce that Chris Gomersall will once again be working with us as a guide and photographic mentor aboard Hjalmar Bjorge. Chris Gomersall is best known as a professional photographer of birds, wildlife and the environment, and his work has been recognised in many international competitions; in 2007 he was named as overall winner in the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
Educated as a biologist, he worked for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) as a nature reserve warden, research ecologist, and later as their staff photographer. As a freelance photographer for the last 20 years, Chris is also a highly experienced wildlife guide and tour leader. He first worked with Northern Light Cruises in 2002, and has since logged more than 50 live-aboard cruises around the Hebrides on a number of different vessels – not to mention many other whale-watching expeditions around the world.

The correct Norwegian pronunciation for Hjalmar Bjørge is "YAL-MUH B'YOR-GAY" but we call the boat "HAL-MUH GEORGE"
