Øivind Lorentzen
(RS 82) was built in 1972 and was stationed at Havøysund
(Finnmark). The vessel worked until recently from a station
in Bergen before being offered for sale. Stein
wrote to tell us that the NSSR was lucky to achieve around the asking
price for this vessel (approx 3.5 million NOK - 448,123 euros - £309,976
gbp). The money will be invested in the fleet of modern rescue boats
enabling NSSR to save more lives at sea off Norway's convoluted coastline.
Øivind
Lorentzen was sold and delivered on 17 September 2007 to Erling
Lorentzen of Oslo who lives mainly in Brazil. Erling, who is 84, is the
son of the original donor of the vessel, ship owner Mr Øivind Lorentzen,
and is married to Princess Ragnhild of Norway. He is very well known in
Norway. Erling renamed the vessel "Norte II" and she has since
been sailed to Rio de Janeiro. The new owner is planning to turn her into
a yacht without changing too much of the original character of the vessel.

was sent by Stein and was taken on the afternoon that Erling took
ownership.
