Below is the entire email from Jill about her cruise aboard Chalice taken when the vessel was owned and run by Mark and Hannah.

I just got back from a very different sort of visit to Scotland - a walking holiday in the Cape Wrath area run by one of the better known companies specializing in this type of thing. This is the first time I have had another kind of all-inclusive, small-group holiday to compare with what you and Mark offer.

There were nine guests on the Cape Wrath trip, plus a guide and a cook. We were housed in youth hostels for 7 nights, with all meals provided, and transported around by mini-van. The trip was very professionally guided, we did every walk we were scheduled to do (despite the atrocious weather) and saw every sight we were meant to see. The food was abundant and the cooking quite good although the quality of  the ingredients was well below that offered on Chalice.

We weren't catered to as individual guests who happened to be in a group, but as a group of customers who were to be given nothing more nor less than the exact itinerary they had paid for. The relief the leader felt upon dropping us at the railway station in [ name of town deleted ] was palpable. Now I realize that you guys may well feel the same way at the end of a cruise (and I couldn't blame you), but you disguise it very well. Your hospitality begins in the planning stages of the holiday and continues until the very end.

The point is, I guess, that on board the Chalice, one really does feel like a guest. Although it is clear that the cruise is being most professionally run, there is a feeling of bonhomie that makes all the difference in the over-all experience one takes home. You, Mark and the crew do it so effortlessly that it took another sort of holiday experience to allow me to appreciate the difficulty of what you do and just how well you do it.
