“Best whale encounter I’ve ever had”
The words from our skipper Mark this morning! (Monday 13th June)
Everyone aboard, guests and crew, are buzzing after this morning’s encounter with hundreds of whitebeak dolphins, dozens of minke whales and then a playful juvenile humpback whale, which has been playing around Hjalmar Bjorge for an hour off the Butt of Lewis. All thoughts of breakfast have been forgotten, while cameras have been clicking away. More photos will follow, but for now here’s a “tail shot” from Mark. What an epic cruise this week!
DID YOU KNOW?
Atlantic puffins have penguin-like colouring but they sport a colourful beak that has led some to dub them the "sea parrot". The beak fades to a drab grey during the winter and blooms with colour again in the spring.
