Rum viewed from Muck

Synopsis: an interesting cruise which, weather permitting, will include a circumnavigation of the largest and most northerly Inner Hebridean island. A good time of year for cetaceans and we'll see raptors and some seabirds at sea.

Small Isles and Skye Explorer cruising areaDestination: guests join motor vessel Hjalmar Bjorge at around 1600 on Saturday 15 September in Oban. Our departure shortly thereafter will see us on anchor for our first evening meal aboard.

The itinerary is dependent on weather - balancing shelter with our target destinations - but may include, for example, some of the following islands: the east coast of Mull, the Small Isles (Rum, Canna, Eigg and Muck), Skye - including Lochs Dunvegan, Bracadale and Snizort, Neist Point - and nearby small islands such as Soay, Rona, Scalpay and Raasay. Remote mainland destinations such as Loch Nevis, Loch Hourn and Loch Torridon may be visited too. We'll cruise the sound of Mull to get there and back. Expect sea and golden eagles and a variety of cetaceans. Seabirds are still at sea if not in huge numbers on land.

On the final day we head back into Oban for your departure after brunch or lunch on Friday 21 September.
