Synopsis: a gentle early season cruise where we take advantage of the natural shelter of the islands with the opportunity to explore less frequently visited southern Hebridean islands. Walks planned daily. This is a great time of year for seabirds, raptors and the possibility of early cetaceans.

Inner Hebridean Seabirds (Isles of the Sea) cruising areaDestination: guests join motor vessel Hjalmar Bjorge around 1600 on Saturday 14 April in Oban. Our departure shortly thereafter will see us on anchor for our first evening meal aboard.

The itinerary is dependent on weather - balancing shelter with reaching our preferred destinations - but may include, for example, some of the following destinations: the south coast of Mull, Iona, the Garvellachs ("Isles of the Sea"), Colonsay, the raised beaches of Jura and the Gulf of Corryvreckan, etc. Expect sea and golden eagles and, hopefully cetaceans, although it is early. However in recent years we have found the entrance to the Firth of Lorn to be an exciting "hot spot" for minke whales, dolphins and porpoise.

On the final day we head back into Oban for your departure after brunch or lunch on Friday 20 April.
