Synopsis: an interesting cruise involving sail and power which will, weather permitting, include a circumnavigation of the largest and most northerly Inner Hebridean island. A good time of year for cetaceans and we'll see raptors and some seabirds at sea.

Small Isles and Skye Explorer cruising areaDestination: guests join yacht Zuza around 1530 on Saturday 8 September at Oban Yachts, Kerrera. Our departure shortly thereafter will see us on anchor for our first evening meal aboard.

The itinerary is dependent on weather, balancing shelter with sailing to our preferred destinations, but aims to include, for example, the Small Isles (Rum, Canna, Eigg and Muck), Skye - including Lochs Dunvegan, Bracadale and Snizort plus Neist Point - and nearby small islands beyond the Kyles of Lochalsh such as Soay, Rona, Scalpay, Raasay and the Crowlins. Remote mainland destinations such as Loch Nevis, Loch Hourn and Loch Torridon are likely too as there are picturesque narrows, unusual islands (such as Eilean Rarsaidh) and isolated settlements to visit therein. We'll cruise the sound of Mull to get there and back. Expect sea and golden eagles, a variety of cetaceans and otters galore! Seabirds are still at sea if not in huge numbers on land.

On the final day we head back into Oban for your departure after brunch or lunch on Friday 14 September.
